In today’s society many endometriosis sufferers have no choice but to travel for specialist care. Some of them are supported by their partners, families and friends, whilst others have little or no support at all.
Our patient started her symptoms at the age of 18 and, as in many cases, her family thought it was normal period pain.
Struggling with infertility
It’s been 3 years since I learned that I suffer from endometriosis. I have also been trying to get pregnant for 3 years. After doing the hysteroscopy procedure, the doctors come to the conclusion that the right fallopian tube is damaged. They suggested intervention open surgery to clean the area, and remove the fallopian right tube.
Trusting her doctors, our patient underwent an open surgery, during which according to her doctors, they also cleaned her endometriosis.
They were given the approval for conception and a month later they were told to try assisted human reproductive techniques.
She underwent IVF procedures with no success
First procedure negative. Second procedure negative. Each time her endometriosis and her symptoms would get worse, each day.
They have changed the medical team
New tests done confirmed that endometriosis was present, with multiple endometriomas and a suspicion cyst. She underwent emergency surgery but it was unsuccessful.
She was put on hormonal medication to have a “safer intervention”
He first suggested one dose, then after 3 months, he suggested a second dose, in May, he suggested the third dose. After many failed attempts, she contacted Dr Kyriakopoulos.
I contacted Dr. Dinos and at the beginning of July, my husband and I flew to Athens. On July 6, I had a laparoscopy with Dr. Dinos. After so many negative experiences, I was confused at the beginning, but after the surgery I was very happy and hopeful. The experience with Dr. Kyriakopoulos was fantastic, he is a man with a very big heart and very humane.
