Excision Endometriosis Specialist in Athens
Athens Centre for Endometriosis is a multidisciplinary advanced endometriosis and gynaecology surgery centre in Greece. Using excision as primary treatment method, our centre is led by internationally renowned endometriosis specialist Dr Konstantinos Kyriakopoulos. Based in Athens, the capital of Greece, our surgeries take place at Mediterraneo Hospital, a multidisciplinary hospital that benefits from state-of-the -art equipment and 164 beds in Glyfada.
At ACE patients are cared for by a multidisciplinary team made up of gynaecologist, radiologist, bowel surgeon, urologist, thoracic surgeon, anaesthetists and a clinical nurse specialist. Due to our specialists combined experience and expertise, we are able to offer expert surgery to remove endometriosis from various parts of the body, including lungs and nerves. Dr Konstantinos Kyriakopoulos is a consultant gynaecologist and an endometriosis specialist. Dr Kyriakopoulos is a video-vetted excision endometriosis surgeon. Dr Kyriakopoulos is also certified in neuropelveology, level 2, after attending Prof Possover courses.
His formation in endometriosis surgery took place in the UK busiest endometriosis centre, BSGE accredited, seeing severe and complex cases. He brought his training and expertise back home, creating the only centre dedicated exclusively to excision in the area. Together with his colleagues, Dr Kyriakopoulos operates on patients from all over the world and his patients highly recommend him for his care and empathy.
OUR SURGICAL PROCEDURES
Minimally Invasive Procedures
We are one of the few centres in Europe that treats thoracic and sciatic endometriosis. All our surgeons are trained in minimally invasive procedures such as laparoscopy and VATS.
Advanced laparoscopy
Dr Kyriakopoulos, Dr Brattis and Dr Georgopoulos are trained in advanced minimally invasive procedures allowing them to treat pelvic, bowel and urinary endometriosis using keyhole surgery.
Video Assisted Thoracic Surgery
Thoracic endometriosis is a severe entity that can lead to lung collapse. Its treatment is surgical. At Athens Centre for Endometriosis we are able to perform VATS for thoracic endometriosis.
Hysteroscopy
Hysteroscopy can be used to diagnose uterine cavity issues and to remove fibroids or polyps. Dr Kyriakopoulos is trained in hysteroscopy and he performs it quite frequently in patients with uterine issues.
We see adolescents and menopausal patients
Endometriosis is a debilitating disease that can impact of allspects on one’s life. Is a disease that can affect teenagers and menopausal women as well. At Athens Centre for Endometriosis we are able to provide diagnosis and treatment to teenagers with endometriosis and also menopausal patients.
